HEIL I ribbon tweeter - 4 of ESS brand. This transducer is part of the very closed circle of loudspeakers made for over thirty years, a legend on its own! Designed in the early 1970s by Dr HEIL (who was responsible for laying the foundations of the field effect transistor), it is equipped with an accordion pleated diaphragm formed in an ultra-resistant film covered go and return by a Greek conductor formed by an aluminum ribbon receiving the modulation. This ribbon is immersed in the air gap of an overpowering magnetic circuit.
When the modulation is applied, the diaphragm folds back by driving air out of one side and unfolds from the other, sucking the air. This principle of propulsion ensures a yield five times higher than that of a classic ribbon! The impulse response is phenomenal (1.5 grams of mobile equipment / 4 kilos of magnet!) And the exceptional damping by the operation in acoustic doublet.
